Response to Hurricane Sandy

Hey my name is Wanda Tineo i am writing about New York response to Hurricane Sandy . I believe the city response was adequate because they help people that lost their homes to get shelter for a period of time. But they was also inadequate because after a couple of months they stop helping these people, so they were left without a place to live . Everything they had was destroy & it wasn't their fault. Some of these people home was made into something that the city could benefit from. In Shock Doctrine "Blanking The Beach" she talks about a "New Rule" there were a mysterious fire & people were told they couldn't live by the beach and everything had to be at lest two hundred meters back from the high-water mark. Basically they left fishing man without homes. These people benefit from the disaster & drove people out of there homes.

  1. Hi Wanda, I think you did a great job in the beginning explaining why New York City's response was inadequate. However, I think you lost me when you went right into "Blanking The Beach". There was no transition sentence to indicate that you were about to compare/contrast this issue to this text. Also, who is "she"? You never mentioned who wrote this text. Although I understand how these connect, others may not know or understand what you are talking about because they havent read the text. You should think about:
*Whats the link between those who lost their homes during Sandy and those who lost their homes in Sri Lanka?
*Be specific about the subjects and people you are talking about. Who are "these people" in the last sentence? Who is "she" who is talking about a "New Rule"?
*You mentioned that people's homes in New York after Sandy were made into things that the city can benefit from. Like what?

I think you can do it, you already have your main ideas down :)
